The Promotion (2008)

September 19, 2008

This reminded me too much of Bag Boy and Employee of the Month(I’m talking about the crappy one with Dane Cook, not the good one with Jenna.) It’s funny for a while(John C. Reilly is always hilarious), but I lost interest about half-way through. This movie lost points for not having enough Jenna [...]

Bag Boy (2007)

September 19, 2008

The tagline says it all: “The greatest sports movie ever made… about grocery bagging!”
It’s kind of a funny concept, but shouldn’t have been made into a full length movie; A skit on SNL would have sufficed.

Death Race (2008)

September 19, 2008

I have to admit, I like Jason Statham.  Some of his movies are pret-ty bad(i.e. Crank), and this one isn’t much better, but I have a soft spot for destruction derby.  Just take it at face value, and it’s mildly entertaining.  It gets a few bonus points for it’s Mario Kart(nerd alert!) style fighting: you [...]

Hitman (2007)

September 11, 2008

This turned out better than I anticipated.  Timothy Olyphant managed to be a convincing agent, and his co-star, future bond girl Olga Kurylenko, was fun to watch(very fun in some parts).  Some of the action sequences are bit much, but it’s still a good action flick.  I think I would have made a decent hitman, [...]

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007)

September 11, 2008

Pretty interesting, considering I didn’t know much about the story of Jesse James(I don’t count American Outlaws) and the aftermath of his assassination.  It has a big name cast(i.e. Pitt, Casey Affleck, Sam Rockwell), but it was a bit too long for me.  The bonus is that I now call my friend Rob Ford “the [...]

The Pleasure of Your Company (2006)

September 11, 2008

meh, this is nothing special, but I won’t say I didn’t laugh.  It gets bonus points for casting the spicy Isla Fisher(Wedding Crashers), Joey Pants and because Johnny Blue Jeans directed it.
