W. (2008)

January 23, 2009

Josh Brolin was a pretty convincing G. W.  Bush, but there wasn’t really anything in here that we didn’t already know.  Come on Stone, either make a documentary or fiction, but not a little of both.

*Slumdog Millionaire (2008)

January 21, 2009

Wow, growing up in India seems really tough.  I should start being a little nicer to my Indian friends.

Frost/Nixon (2008)

January 14, 2009

So I found out shortly into the movie that it wasn’t about freezing nixon for the future.  But, it was still worth watching.  I really enjoyed finding out that even ex-presidents drunk-dial people.

The Wrestler (2008)

January 14, 2009

Marisa Tomei made this movie much more watchable.  I really hope my wife/mistress looks like she does in her mid-40s.  Or, I’ll just find a younger one.

January 14, 2009

Valkyrie (2008)

January 7, 2009

Operation Valkyrie is in full effect!  Actually, I think a more creative attempt at taking out Hitler would be for Tom Cruise to convert him to Scientology.

*Zack and Miri Make a Porno (2008)

January 7, 2009

I think Mallrats is still my favorite Kevin Smith movie, but this is the best comedy of the ‘08(despite the cookie-cutter dramady ending.)  Seth is already very typecast, but he still makes me laugh.  Elizabeth Banks’s char was simply adorable; hot girls with a personality like hers are pretty rare…but she could use bigger boobs(maybe [...]

Body of Lies (2008)

January 7, 2009

Normally, I’m all about Ridley Scott movies, but this one wasn’t anything special. Russell Crowe’s char was boring, but DiCaprio (who looked more like Timberlake) was a pretty convincing field-op. It piqued my interest at the very begining, but I think I could have written a better ending.
